This zen poem called Ring of Bone, by Lew Welch, is always with me:
I saw myself, a ring of bone, in the clear stream of all of it, and vowed always to be open to it, that all of it might flow through. And then heard "ring of bone", where ring is what a bell does.

To those who live in or will be visiting Amsterdam in October, I will be presenting the first of four concerts of the completed piano sonatas of Franz Schubert. The concerts take place on October 15, December 3, February 11 and April 21, all on Saturday evenings, 8:15, at the English Church in the Begijnhof on the Spui. Come and enjoy this inspired music written by a young Romantic master composer who died at age 31.

Laugh, shout, dance, sing....if people think you are crazy it is their problem. One sure way for them to stop being at the mercy of their own judgmental attitudes is simply to join in.
