Classical music practice and performance is a re-creative, interpretive art in which the musician puts him/herself in service of the music. Any attempts to put ourselves first, before the master composers, is a wasted, misguided effort. Never look on these divine compositions as a means to further your career, but as spiritual-musical ends in themselves.
